Would love to visit: The Golden Compass/Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman
For one, I’ve always wanted to live in England and I adore fantasy so living in an parallel England where there were witches, talking animals, and where everyone has a daemon would be amazing. I’ve wanted a daemon since I was a young child after reading this book, mostly because I would have loved to have a friend who understood me so well but also because I think it would have been nice to have a seperate conscience to let me know alternate paths and choices I could have made. I think life would have been much easier with some guidance. Also, my favorite animal are polar bears so it would have been sooo cool to be able to strike up a conversation with one and maybe meet the ‘King’ of bears. 🙂
Daemons are such a fantastic invention. It’s one of those things that when you read, you instantly go “OMG I WISH IT WAS REAL!!!!!!!” – in much the same was as when you read Harry Potter and encounter Hogwarts. That one great idea that captures your imagination so much you then get slightly depressed when you remember how it’s all just fiction. (Damn you, Pullman! *shakefist*)
I think my Daemon would have been a cat. Sleeping lots and getting cuddles and purring. Sounds about right. 😉
Would love to visit: The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
Wouldn’t it be amazing, being able to do spells and everything? 😀 I feel like this needs more, but I can’t think of anything that would adequately express my love for the series XD
My only comment? It’s “YES! YES IT WOULD!” and ditto – I can’t think of anything more to say that can adequately express my love for that series either! 😀
Would love to visit: War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
It seems like a lost world to me, when there was a different order to peoples’ lives, a time to be noble, and honorable, and good. Although Harry Potter would be pretty awesome as well!
Oh yes, Russian costume dramas certainly have appeal! 🙂 To think, walking around in those sumptuous houses! Wow … that’d be pretty darn amazing. Eh, I’m going by Anna Karenina here, by the way. I have no idea if War and Peace is big on mansions or not. *cough*
A brand-spanking new copy of The Eyre Affair will be shipped to all three some time next week. Hope you enjoy them! 😀
(Yes I know I had five to give away, but only three people signed up. The other two copies will be put to good use though, so no worries. :))
