So here’s to you, Mrs Armitage

Before I completely forget, I have to quick recall what little I remember of a dream I had last night:

Richard Armitage had got married.

♫ “IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME!” ♫

His new missus was an author and scriptwriter, but not well-known at all. Not heard of full stop, I should say. They had met on set of … Captain America or something?

It made perfect sense for them to get married as well, they seemed well-matched, even though there was no way for us of really knowing who on earth she was, aside from a small picture. She was pretty, but not in a Hollywood way. Believably pretty, you could say. Fairly ordinary, like the rest of us.

It was all very sudden, we fans didn’t even know he was dating and suddenly, we get the news that he’s married, and we’re all left with a feeling of “huh”. But pleased for his sake.

Most peculiar. I wonder what that’s meant to symbolise.

Traxy Thornfield

A Swedish introvert residing in Robin Hood Country (Nottingham, UK) with a husband and two cats. She's an eager participant in tabletop and play-by-post roleplaying, woodworking, photography and European travel. Will get a novel out one of these days, if she doesn't get too distracted along the way.

  1. Boyfriend has really gotten around the last few nights. Lucas was in a dream I had a few nights ago, too, but no one was getting married.

  2. I had a dream he was married last November (go figure!). There was a function he was attending and I remember feeling very relieved he was no longer single as the organisers didn’t have to worry about a group of fans who wanted to get to know him on a personal level. I can’t remember any more than that except that like you, the marriage came as a complete surprise to many people who weren’t expecting it. 🙂

  3. I had a dream like this a few weeks ago. It consisted of me opening up my browser and logging onto email and discovering that the major fan sites had reported that he had married and was honeymooning at an undisclosed location. They didn’t say who he was married. It was a very brief dream, and the main sensation I had with it was thinking how odd it was that no one was angry or depressed — it was just like business as usual for the Armitage fandom.

  4. That’s exactly it, servetus! Spot on! No anger, no sadness, just a feeling of “Oh … okay … well … good for him!” and then everyone went about their business. I mean, in the dream, even us bloggers didn’t have much to say more than “uh yeah, apparently he went and got married … So yeah, good luck to the happy couple!” A kind of emotional void. Just a statement of fact. “He got married. Thought you should know.”

I even remember being angsty in the dream (even though it was a short one) that I had only dreamt of it, because it was so sudden. “This did actually happen, right? I haven’t just made it up?” And the irony is of course that yes, it WAS made up, it was just a dream!

  5. When he does get married it will probably (in the best Armitage tradition) be all done very quietly, and we probably won’t know until a year later or something!!!!

  6. Ok, so I glimpsed the little preview for this post on my dashboard and all my brain processed was the wedding photo, “Richard Armitage” and “wedding”, and I had this momentary panic reaction of “Richard got married?!/Have I really been so out of the loop lately that I missed this?!”. Thanks for starting my morning with that little extra jolt! 🙂

  7. kaprekar/servetus: Agreed! Probably just a small notice in the newspaper. Like in the dream.

VABookworm87: LOL! I took the Starbucks with an extra shot of coffee instead. ;D
