Xmas Giveaway, Day 2: Item 3

Item 3 in the Christmas Giveaway is a souvenir notepad from Haddon Hall, which I picked up when I was there for the Jane Eyre behind the scenes tour in October … which I still need to write about. It has the same picture that I have on my keyring and shows Haddon Hall in all its Thornfieldy splendour.

The size is landscape A6 (quarter of an A4), and has blank pages, i.e. no lines or anything like that and is maybe 5 mm thick or something, I haven’t actually measured it. Lovely cover picture, though. πŸ™‚ I do love that place.

Giveaway closes at some point during 27 December 2011. Winner will be chosen at random and contacted and with a bit of luck, has responded with some form of contact details so I can send it when the post office opens again on the 28th.

Remember, I need to be able to contact you and get your postal address if you win, so if you’re not on Facebook, Etsy, Twitter or any other way of getting in touch, it will be hard to let you know you’ve won, and so on, so in order to be in with a chance of winning, add some kind of contact details and answer the following qualifying question: Haddon Hall has been standing in for Thornfield Hall in Jane Eyre on three occasions, and was Prince Humperdink’s castle in The Princess Bride, and has been in a number of other things as well. It’s my favourite filming location. Which place or what building anywhere in the world is your favourite, and has it featured in any film(s)?

This giveaway is open worldwide.

Good luck! Check back in a few hours for today’s book giveaway. πŸ™‚

  1. One of my favorites is the GE Building in NY. It’s been featured in several films and some TV shows. Some shots for 30 Rock are filmed there. It was also the building featured in Mr. and Mrs. Smith when Angelina Jolie glides down the side of it after making a hit. I have been in that building on several occasions, and it is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. If you’re into architecture (or even if you’re not), it’s a must see 1930s classical art deco. Lots of details and finely done.

  2. I actually really like Disney Hall in LA, which was shown in Bride and Prejudice. Also shown in the same movie was the Biltmore Hotel in LA.

Haddon Hall is breathtaking–would love to visit it in person.

  3. Chatsworth is, of course, breathtaking–and you know what it’s been used in! And I love Warwick Castle.

  4. Oooh, I’ll have to go there whenever I might happen to go to NYC, it looks beautiful from the pictures. Thanks for the tip! πŸ™‚

  5. Wow, it sure looks striking from the pictures! Very distinctive, a bit like the Sydney opera house in that way. Oh, and the hotel definitely has a “wow factor” too! πŸ™‚

Haddon Hall is a beautiful old place. Hope you get to see it some time!

  6. Still need to actually visit Chatsworth properly. Maybe in the new year some time. Would love to visit Warwick Castle as well. πŸ™‚
